Quirky social media trends followed by us

Social media has undoubtedly become an integral part of our lives. From sharing our happy moments to expressing our opinions, social media platforms have given us the power to connect with people all around the world. But it's not just about connecting with others; social media has also given birth to some quirky and fun trends that have taken over the internet by storm!

Here are some of the most amazing trends that we all followed.

Finger moustache - The finger moustache trend is one of the most amusing social media trends that have ever existed. It's quite simple really, all you have to do is tilt your fingers under your nose and take a picture! The trend started back in 2010 when Hollywood actor John C. Reilly did it during an interview. Since then, people from all walks of life have been sporting their own version of the finger moustache. What makes this trend so unique is that it allows anyone to become whoever they want to be; from Charlie Chaplin to Salvador Dali. The finger moustache has also made its way into various advertising campaigns and even movies such as "The Grand Budapest Hotel." However, like any other trend, there are always some controversies surrounding it. Some people argue that the finger moustache is offensive as it resembles Hitler's infamous facial hair style.

Ice bucket challenge - Remember the summer of 2014, when everyone on social media was dumping ice buckets over their heads? The Ice Bucket Challenge went viral in no time and became a global sensation. It all started as an awareness campaign for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease. The challenge involved dumping a bucket full of ice water over your head, posting it on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram with the hashtag #icebucketchallenge and nominating others to do the same. Those who refused had to donate $100 to ALS research. Within weeks, celebrities including Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Mark Zuckerberg took up the challenge which further popularized this trend.

The Kiki Challenge - The Kiki Challenge, also known as the "In My Feelings" challenge, took social media by storm in 2018. It involves dancing to Drake's hit song while jumping out of a moving car and continuing the dance alongside it. This trend quickly became controversial with people getting injured or causing accidents during attempts to film themselves doing the challenge. Many police departments across the country issued warnings about the dangers of attempting this viral trend. Despite its controversy, The Kiki Challenge continued to gain popularity on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. Celebrities like Will Smith and Ciara even joined in on the fun.
