Ranveer Singh's golden decade in Bollywood

It has been 10 years since Ranveer Singh first made an appearance in Bollywood as Bittu Sharma in Band Bajaa Baaraat.

He was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best male debut and has carved out a niche for himself in his first decade in the Hindi film industry.

The first three movies of Ranveer Singh were Band Baaja Baaraat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and (a special appearance in) Bombay Talkies. However, the movie with which he established his acting chops in Bollywood is Lootera, which proved to be a landmark in his acting career.

The graph was only going to go upwards with films like Ramleela in which his chemistry with Deepika Padukone was widely appreciated. Ranveer also won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the film in 2013.

After the limited success of films like Finding Fanny and Kill Dil, Ranveer Singh made a mark a couple of years later with another Sanjay Leela Bhansali classic. He teamed up with Deepika Padukone to play Peshwa Bajirao I and won another Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

His next film Befikre may not have done well at the box office, but for Padmavat, he joined hands with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone once again and aced the role of Alauddin Khilji for which he was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor.

After a couple of heavy films, Ranveer shifted track and was seen in the role of Sangram 'Simmba' Bhalerao in Rohit Shetty's Singham franchise.

His acting came to the fore once again in Gully Boy where he played the role of a quiet Murad Ahmed, quite contrary to his energetic personality and pulled it off quite well. Another Filmfare Award for Best Actor came his way.

The Covid-19 pandemic may have delayed some of his passion projects, but he is sitting on a gold mine with the shooting of 83, where he will be in and as the legendary Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev, already completed. The shooting of Suryavanshi has also been completed while Jayeshbhai Jordaar is in post-production.

From being a newbie, Ranveer Singh has established himself as one of the leading male actors in Bollywood. Given that he is just 35, we would hope that his best work is still to come.
