There had been a trend in Bollywood to make remakes of old classic movies and milk upon the goodwill these movies carry but there are some classic movies that are best as they are and can’t be remade. In the first part of the story, we discussed three classics Bollywood shouldn’t even think of remaking and here we are continuing that story adding a few more movies to the list.
Amar, Akbar,Anthony
Amar, Akbar,Anthony featured Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rishi Kapoor together and was a blockbuster when released. It’s a movie we love the way it is and hope nobody gets an idea to remake it.
With remakes of Zanjeer, Don, and Agneepath already done it seems like Amitabh Bachchan movies are favorites to be remade but the Manmohan Desai directed movie Amar, Akbar, Anthony is one such a movie that should not be remade. A full-on commercial potboiler, it was apt for the times it was released but in today’s day and age, the lost and found formula may not work and that is one of the reasons it shall not be remade. Also, no one among the present directors has the conviction of Manmohan Desai to pull off such a movie.
AndazApnaApna
AndazApnaApna is comparatively a new movie compared with the other movies in this list but there had been murmurs about it being remade and just thinking about it makes us cringe.
AndazApnaApna is a cult classic comedy movie that featured Aamir Khan and Salman Khan together for the first and probably last time also. Without any doubt, it’s one of the most loved and watched movies, but shockingly it was a flop when released but today it is considered as one of the best comedy movies ever. In the last few years, there have been discussions about remaking this classic which is just not possible. First of all, none in the new lot of actors today can replace Aamir Khan and Salman Khan nor any director has the ability to create such a movie again. We love AndazApnaApna the way it is and hope nobody remakes it ever.
Deewar
Deewar is an iconic movie that was directed by Yash Chopra and featured Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor along with Nirupa Roy, Neeti Singh, and Parveen Babi.
Many consider Deewar as one of Amitabh Bachchan’s best movies and the actor himself believes so. It’s one of those movies that solidified Amitabh Bachchan’s image as the angry young man who fights against society to stand on his feet. The movie with its gripping storyline, dialogues, and amazing performances is a classic in every sense. It tells the story of two brothers who are pitted against each other due to their ideologies. It’s a movie that should not be remade because no one has the intensity to pull off the character of Vijay that Amitabh Bachchan.
