Right Ways to Oil Your Hair

Here are a few tips to master the complex art of doing champi

Champi

an indispensable part of haircare regimen, when done right, has immense benefits. It increases blood flow, works on hair growth, reduces hair fall and eases stress and anxiety. But we often tend to complicate the oiling process which leads to a series of hair fall and skin issues—such as acne, hair fall and greasy and dull-looking hair, which explains why we should adhere to a couple of easy parameters while applying oil.

Do Not Leave Oil Overnight

Popular misconceptions such as leaving oil throughout the night would promote hair growth, and prevent greying encourage wrong practices. Overnight oil gathers dust, blocks hair follicles and weakens the hair strands. Also, as the day advances towards sunset, hair follicles naturally close on their own which results in poor oil absorption. As a result, chances of getting allergies, cold and asthma increase.

Do Not Oil on a Dirty Scalp

If your scalp is already greasy and dirty and has flakes of dandruff, oiling might not a wise choice. Oiling would aggravate the condition by clogging the pores beyond repair.

Do Not Oil with Hair Fall Issues

Oil is not the most effective antidote to the pre-existing problem of hair fall. Switching to masks is a better option. Unless the cause of hair fall is rooted in a dehydrated or dry scalp, oil is not a relevant option. The same rule is applicable if you are burdened with dandruff issues., instead of oil, go for a scalp-refreshing routine with a concoction of aloe gel and water.

Do Not Over Oil

Going overboard with oiling, and just with any other moisturising / hydrating element, does more harm than good. Slathering yourself in oil seldom brings any improvement and causes excess shampooing and dryness. Ideally, oil should settle smoothly and in a well-measures proportion on hair strands. To reduce the quantity of hair oil, add yoghurt or aloe vera gel to the mixture. Besides adding shine, this strategy eases the washing process and renders the hair silky-smooth.

Do Not Wash Off Soon

Washing off too soon undoes the benefits of oiling and leaves the hair dull and brittle. Allow at least an hour between oiling and shampoo to let the oil seep into your scalp and soak into the follicles. This enhances the nourishment from within. This leads to a healthy shine and bounce, quite naturally.
