Sanju Samson's inconsistency

Sanju Samson has not been able to produce consistent performances for Rajasthan Royals despite looking extremely good when he fires. Sanju Samson finished IPL 2021 with 484 runs from 14 matches at an average of over 40 and a strike rate of 136.72. He had the best of 119 and also struck two half centuries to go along with that with the help of 45 boundaries and 17 sixes.

Despite ending up as the highest run scorer for his franchise, Samson left a lot to be desired. Why fans get disappointed at Sanju Samson's consistency is because they see the ability in the man to deliver consistent performances. However, it has often been seen that Samson in a bid to up the ante throws his wicket away.

For all the ability that he has, the RR captain should learn from the likes of KL Rahul and Ruturaj Gaikwad who not only maintain a healthy strike rate but are also consistent at the same time and have become players on whom their team can bank on.

Samson had a brilliant start to his campaign and smashed 119 off just 63 deliveries in only the 4th match of this edition. He struck 12 boundaries and 7 sixes while going at a strike rate of 188.89 in a run-fest against Punjab Kings. Despite Rajasthan's four-run loss, Samson's knock stood out.

"I think the second part of the innings was the best I ever played, took my time and respected the bowlers, whereas in the first part I was not timing it very well. I took the singles and got into a rhythm and then I started to play my shots in the second half. I enjoy my shots but I come back to the present after I play those shots. It automatically happens, when I focus on my skills and watch the ball and react."

"Sometimes I lose my wicket also, so I just play the same way. It's about trusting my processes to be honest, and I did that, and it came off tonight. The coin looked really nice so I pocketed it, asked the referee if I could have it, but he said no," the Rajasthan Royals captain said after winning the player of the match award.

Rajasthan Royals had a disappointing season in IPL 2021. Despite showing a lot of promise on occasions, they ended up with 5 victories and 9 losses from 14 matches.
