Six Indian Origin CEO’s of Top International Companies in the World (Part I)

India has produced several talented people who are holding big positions in various well-known international companies across the globe.

We all know that a large number of Indians are working in NASA and other such reputed organizations but in the last decade or so; we have seen NRI’s or Indian-origin people holding positions of CEOs in big companies. Here is a list of six such Indian-origin CEOs who are running a few of the biggest and top companies in the world.

  1. Sundar Pichai- Alphabet Inc 

Among all Indian-origin CEOs of top companies, Sundar Pichai holds a special place as he became the CEO of Google in 2015 and later in 2019 got appointed as the CEO of Alphabet Inc, the parent company of Google.

Pichai Sundararajan known mostly as Sundar Pichai created waves across the world when he was appointed as the CEO of Google, one of the biggest companies in the world. Sundar Pichai belongs to Tamil Nadu, India, and graduated from IIT, Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering. He holds an M.S. from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania who joined Google in 2004 in the position of management executive and in 2015 he was appointed as the CEO of Google and later became CEO of Alphabet Inc, the parent company of Google in 2019.

  1. Satya Nadella-Microsoft

Satya Nadella was born in Hyderabad, India, and got appointed as the CEO of Google in 2014 by succeeding Steve Ballmer.

Hyderabad-born Satya Nadella first got a degree of BE from the Manipal Institute of Technology. After that, he acquired a degree in MS from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and an MBA from the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business. In 2014, he became the CEO of Microsoft by succeeding Steve Ballmer. Further, in 2021, he succeeded John W. Thompson and was appointed as the Chairman of Microsoft.

  1. Laxman Narasimhan- Starbucks 

Laxman Narasimhan from Pune, India has been positioned as the next CEO of Starbucks, the most famous Coffee chain store in the world.

Laxman Narasimhan is appointed as the next CEO of Starbucks and will succeed the current CEO Reckitt Benkiser later this year. Laxman Narasimhan graduated from the College of Engineering Pune with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. After that, he completed his master’s degree in German and International Studies from the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. He also has a degree in MBA (Finance) from the Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania.
