Six Proven Tricks to Ace your Job Interview

It’s a human thing to get nervous when you are judged by unknown people based on your conduct and history. But worry not, we have got you covered

Here is a thing about the interviews, nobody likes them, but they are inevitable. Which is why preparing for an upcoming interview seems uncomfortable. No matter how proficient you are in your game, there would always be a feeling of butterflies-in-your-stomach whenever you are about to face a job interview. Here are some tried and tested tricks of the trade which will surely give you an edge over other participants in an interview.

  1. The standard interview questions are more or less similar in every interview. You could find a resource list for these questions and answers online. Try to figure out your best response for the general questions and practice it in your mind several times. These questions could guarantee your ticket to the final round and building a perfect first impression.
  2. If you find yourself competing for your dream job, you would be facing stiff competition from a lot of people. Therefore do not undermine the importance of confidence in such a scenario. You need to practice your questions out loud, wear a smile and walk with utmost confidence even if you are nervous from inside.
  3. It is always a good idea to do some preliminary research about the company to know its working style, leadership and hiring practice. If you know any insider from the firm, take his/her help to learn more about the company. Otherwise, the internet is filled with information that could come in handy if you lookout for it.
  4. Always look prim and proper on the day of the interview. The cardinal rule is to wear formal and yet comfortable attire for the meeting. Your dress, makeup and hair should not be flashy or conspicuously over the top. There should be a sublimity and poise in your personality so that you should look like a thorough professional and not ostentatiously dandy in your looks.
  5. You must try to be punctual on the day of the interview. It reflects your professionalism and dedication for the job. Ideally, you should reach at least ten minutes before the interview so that you become reasonably comfortable and mentally prepare yourself for your meeting.
  6. Always carry a hard copy of your resume and portfolio (if necessary) along with you. The interviewer already has your credentials, but it is not wise to ask the receptionist for a print-out of your resume on the spot. It’s better to come prepared with everything to make a favourable impression.
And don’t forget to thank them with a special note/email a day after your interview. It just adds up on your impression. It might turn an opportunity into a job offer!
