Slow Productivity Wins the Long Game

Get away from the hustle culture, it’s toxic!

We live in a constant state of grind. This hustle and grind culture has literally taken over our lives and has paralyzed our power to regain control of our lives. It has become so cool that we cannot even question its validity! Is this really helping? What exactly is the grind culture accomplishing? It's making us run constantly and compete with each other relentlessly, while producing digital products repeatedly, as much as possible, showcasing all the drama we have been put through because of this hustle and grind culture.

Youtubing is big on this. The tech influencers preach the mantra of success to be a constant grind. They want us to be always productive and filming while we are t it. They want us to produce and upload. The preaching says, success can only come with consistent productivity. But is that really the case? We are not only stuck in this constant grind, we keep on taking one after another side-hustle to somehow feel important. Because we are told, important people keep busy! They work 18 hours a day. They wake up in the dead of the night and practice meditation, followed by a gym routine and a healthy breakfast and then run towards work. Whenever they get a slight break they jump back into their side hustle. It indeed is a rigorous competition. Nearly 45% of all Americas workforce glorify the hustle and grind culture and proudly claim that this hustling and grinding is the only way to success.

What is this hustle culture anyway?

A basic definition of this hustle culture, otherwise known as the grind culture, is a lifestyle that is driven by work productivity and financial success. These are the priorities for hustlers and they proudly claim it. In such a culture, there is no window for having a hobby or spending some time with the loved ones. Leisure is shown as a curse. What hustle culture teaches us is that the only way to success I to never stop producing.

We go on from one hustle to another. If the main hustle is not bringing in good results we start another side hustle, two more, or three. But where is that getting us? It’s like that race between rabbit and the turtle. Always, always choose to be a turtle. Take your time and do what you do best, how you do best. You don’t have to produce, like a machine.
