Some of the famous inventors and scientists, who struggled with math.
If you feel that mathematics is scary, you are not alone. Some of the greatest minds of our times thought the same.
Mathematics may be exciting and fascinating for some people but for majority (including me) struggle with mathematics. But there seems to be a misconception amongst us that if one is not good in mathematics, you cannot do much in the field of science and innovation. But that is where most of you are wrong. Why? Because some of the most brilliant minds of our times, the great innovators and scientist, struggled with mathematics. Here is the list of some of them.
Charles Darwin.
Charles Darwin had some serious contempt for mathematics. He absolutely abhorred the subject when he was in college. So much so, he even hired a tutor to teach him the intricacies of the subject but failed to do so in the year 1828. He often remarked that he was unable to see any meaning in the early steps of algebra.
Thomas Edison.
Thomas Edison was one of the most unconventional inventors out there. He was always not a conventionally brilliant student and struggled with many subjects, such as mathematics. But the thing that set him apart from the rest is that he was aware of his strengths and weakness. He admitted that even though he is weak in mathematics but he won’t let this hamper his passion for science and invention. He famously stated that he could hire a mathematician anytime, but people can’t hire him.
Michael Faraday.
Michael Faraday’s life is an inspiration to anyone who wants to achieve a goal despite the odds. His life story is a typical underdog story, where a boy with dreams in his eyes overcame the prejudices of class and money and became one of the famous inventors and scientists in the whole world. Whenever we switch on light or switch on the electric generator, he is the one whom we should thank. He invented not only rubber balloons but also laid the foundation for the modern-day refrigerator. Michael Faraday had no formal education because of his humble beginning. Because of that, his skill and knowledge in the field of mathematics were not that great. He suffered a lot due to this weakness as he could not prove many of his inventions because of it.
So, if you struggle with math, don’t worry; just chase your dream and read the inspiring stories of these brilliant minds again.
