Some of the most amazing engineering achievements

These engineering marvels have made things that seemed impossible in the past possible. Be it soaring skyscrapers or engineering feats like Panama Canal, there is nothing that a will of a human can’t achieve. Read on to know more.

The history of mankind is full of examples that prove that humans also persist in improving the world around them. And it is through this persistence, hard work, and brilliance of mind, they are able to build buildings, dams, roads, cities, and even went high up in the space. These master engineers and visionaries have given us modern-day marvels that seems impossible a while back. Here are some of the most amazing engineering achievements.

The Panama Canal

One of the greatest engineering marvels of modern time is the great Panama Canal. The Canal is a living example of the hard work and brilliance of the human mind. It took a really long time to be built, its work at first started in the year 1881 but soon was halted because of the lack of investors as they were not confident enough to carry on the project given the high mortality rate amongst workers. In the year 1904, the United States took over the project and was finally completed 10 years later. The Canal is almost 77.1 km long and is the longest artificially made ship Canal that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean through Panama. It is very significant for international maritime trade as it cuts the cost and time of shipping.

The International Space Station

The International Space is another engineering marvel that scaled the height of human engineering brilliance and accomplishment. The Space Station can hold a crew of six astronauts at one time and is the largest man-made object that orbits our planet. In fact, you could see the International Space Station even with a naked eye. The International Space Station is a pioneer for studying different aspects of science and astronomy while being outside of the earth.

Burj Khalifa

The tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa stands tall with a height of 828 meters which is approximately 2,717 feet and has 163 floors. The building was completed in the year 2010 and it is no less than a marvel that able engineers were able to bring to life that can stand strong winds, earthquakes, and various other hazards.
