Some ridiculous things that can make you a bad driver

Speeding, texting, not following traffic signals, road rage and tailgating are the common characteristics of a bad driver, but there are many more incredible and ridiculous things that can make you a bad driver.

So, you pride yourself on being a good driver. You are good with your vehicle and have scored brilliantly on your driving test. But your driving could be hazardous to many. Yes, apart from road rage, tailgating, speeding, there are many other ridiculous things that can affect your driving and make you a pretty bad driver. What are they? Let’s have a look.

Having a cold

They say that if you have consumed a cold medicine that makes you drowsy, it is best to avoid sitting behind the wheels. But it turns out that even having a cold can have a tremendous effect on your driving. A study conducted in the year 2012 stated that even a slight cold could make you a bad driver. A study conducted on driver stimulation showed that people who had cold are more likely to be distracted and have slower reflexes. They also can tailgate, which can be hazardous on the road.

Listening to music and singing along while driving

We all love our music while driving. That is the reason why we spend aninsane amount of money to have the latest music system in our cars with amazing surround sound. But the latest study shows that listening to music while driving is causing accidents all across the globe. First of all, fiddling with a music system to listen to your favourite track while driving is quite dangerous and can cause accidents. Even singing while driving can make you a bad driver because while singing, your brain has to work to remember the correct lyrics and melody. This can lead your brain into overdrive and weaken your reflexes on time of emergency.

Driving through the known route

This might sound and seem a bit absurd, but going through the same route over and over again can also get you in trouble. According to a 2010 study, when you pass through a known route, your brain seems to stop paying attention. And that is when there is a chance of breaking of engagement which can lead to accidents. For example, you will not react quickly if a dog steps in the road.
