Some scents that were invented by perfume makers

We are quite familiar with conventional scents like Rose, Jasmine etc, but perfume makers are marketing scents that are not quite the same as their said sources.

Perfume makers are known to entice our senses with various fragrance, some of our really simple perfumes are drawn from the sources. But many times, perfume makers market some scents that are bizarre and sound quite made up. So, here are some of the marketing gimmicks perfume makers indulge in by inventing some fascinating scents.

Amber

The amber fossilized tree resin that is jewellery is not considered fragrant in anyway. In fact, experts suggest that they don’t have any fragrance in them. But we still see the market flooded with amber scented room freshener, candles and scents. The marketed scent that we associate with amber is completely made up by perfume makers. The scent is made up of a combination of labdanum, benzoin, and of course,                 vanilla. The combination of these three gives us the nostalgic aroma of gemstone’s golden warmth. Real amber, on the other hand, when is burnt, gives a musky odour if heated under the correct temperature.

Brown sugar

Ask any baker who works with brown sugar that it does not smell as flavourful as it tastes. And if you ever happen to smell it yourself, you would never buy brown sugar flavoured candle to freshen up your home or room. Many perfume makers know this fact, and that’s why they invented a scent using magnolia and caramel. This scent is to embody the taste we experience while eating goodies made of brown sugar instead of the actual smell of brown sugar.

Cotton

One of the most common scents which is quite popular in the market nowadays is cotton. The fragrance reminds us of freshly washed clothes, fresh crip air. Surprisingly, even though the product bears the name of cotton, yet there is no cotton to part its fragrance. The perfume is generally made up of jasmine, lavender, citrus, cedar to make a pleasant multi-faceted fresh scent. But if you ask any cotton farmer, they would tell you that freshly picked cotton smells like sweat.

Space

Out of all the fragrances, this one is the weirdest of them all. The only people who could tell the actual smell of space are the people who have gone there, and the only people who went there are astronauts. But space smelling candles have a hint of lavender which may not be accurate.

So, what other fragrances do you think are invented by perfume makers.
