Some Unusual Passports From Around The World

Passport designs of certain countries can raise a few eyebrows owing to their unusual yet cool graphic illustrations.

Most people think of passports as nothing more than a legal document that enables them to travel to other nations. But some passports are considered as works of art, showcasing the culture of the country and its historic landmarks. Feast your eyes on some of the most bizarre and beautiful passports from across the globe.

Canadian passport

The Canadian passport couldn't look more ordinary at first sight. Canada’s navy blue passport with the Royal Coat of Arms of Canada embossed, is the fourth most powerful passport in the world for its freedom of travel. The good stuff of the passport lies inside. The incredibly artsy and colorful passport has hidden illustrations that reveal technicolor hues under UV lights. Apart from the aesthetic outlook, the holographic images also ensure greater security against replication.

Norwegian passport

The Norwegian passport has three color variations, white for an emergency, turquoise blue for diplomatic, and red for standard. The new design for the passports was first issued on 19th October 2020 by the Norwegian government. Flipping through the pages of the passport, you will see minimalist illustrations depicting the landscapes of lakes, forests, fjords, and rivers. However, under UV lights the scenes come to life, revealing a charming night scene with the spectacular northern lights.

Finnish passport

The passport of Finland may look simple but flip through the pages to discover one of the coolest passports in the world. The nation earned a reputation for turning its passports into stunning flipbooks. The older version depicted a moose animation, strutting through the pages. The latest version of the passport displays a swan flying when the pages are flipped.

Australian passport

The first country to use Color Floating Image Technology on its passports is Australia. The inside of the passport displays the diverse fauna and flora of Australia but if you tilt the pages at a certain angle and put them under UV lights, stylized images of red and blue kangaroos start floating and sinking. This ultra-modern technology uses lasers to create floating images, making them difficult to forge.

Hungarian passport

The use of holographic images in passports was made more exciting by Hungary. The Hungarian passport printed an entire music score onto its passport and under UV lights the music score of Szózat gets illuminated.
