Spooky facts about El Naddaha

Oostreekalaana’ meaning ‘Oo woman come tomorrow’ from a Hindi film ‘STREE’ got  famous without any delay as the story was so grasping and performance by every character  was so promising that the audience even believed there is a Stree that takes away man on full  moon night. In parallel world En-Naddaha meaning “The Caller” is a modern legend concerning female naiad like jinns who call men to nile is another story but this is way back in history and has its origins in Egypt.

Origin

This story became popular around the 1950s when Egypt was less urban then it is now, and people would spend more time closer to the Nile. Children would play by its shores and young men would chat there at night. El Naddaha takes the form of stunningly beautiful women who appears by chance to men walking by the Nile at night. She calls the men at the bridge by their name which makes them speechless, hypnotized, and obedient to her voice. People get attracted towards her and blindly follow her as she calls people in a seductive voice.

Fear

It is said that men are afraid to go near Nile at night because several incidents have happened. Some people claimed that they have got a glimpse of El Naddaha. She is generally described as being a very exquisite and gorgeous. She is said to be tall and beautiful which makes people her follower. She stands steadily very near to the river bank, her hands placed at her sides, and wearing a loose, long semi-transparent dress. In many instances she is described as having a semi-transparent body and possibly a djinn. Her voice is calm and soft which makes you follow her to the death.

Myth

In rural Egypt, the creature may call for men in their homes by the shores of the Nile, who then eagerly attempt to leave home for her. In other tales, the affected man will not immediately try to follow; rather enter a state of disturbed distraction for a few nights before at least departing late at night. People in rural Egypt believe that a man who is called for by El Naddaha is doomed, curing him from the curse is impossible. There is no evidence of the fact that she leaves men as they were before. El Naddaha is beautiful yet she is a mysterious and dangerous character which makes her a sort of an urban legend.  There are people who believe everything they hear about her, such is her impact in the Egypt and other places.
