Steps to reduce dengue transmitting mosquitoes

Mosquitoes that cause dengue fever thrive in stagnant water, so it’s best to combat that.

Mosquitoes are one of the vital problems to get a healthy life. We must be aware of how we are being affected by mosquitoes. So we must be aware of it and take all the precautions to prevent it. In the home, disease-causing mosquitoes typically breed in decorative and other containers, pot trays and plates, and cloth or plastic wrap. Outside the home, mosquitoes can breed in sewers, drain traps, and abandoned containers.

Mosquito Habitat Reduction

Mosquitoes that cause dengue fever thrive in stagnant water containing objects such as tires, plastic lids, flower pots, pet water bowls, etc. Reducing the available habitats for these mosquitoes and eliminating stagnant water for the brood can help prevent dengue fever.

Do not allow water to stagnate anywhere

Standing water that has not been drained off encourages mosquitoes to breed.Empty  flower pots, clean and replace your pet's water bowls, avoid aquatic plants in the home, check that septic tanks and plumbing are in good working order, and cover any specially used containers or barrels to save water.

Spread Oil

If you can't drain out the water, spray oil on it. It does not help mosquitoes to lay their eggs in the stored water.

Use mosquito repellent

Using mosquito repellent, especially in densely populated and crowded tropical areas, can help ward off mosquito bites. Apply mosquito repellent creams to your body when travelling to tropical destinations and also when staying indoors. For kids or babies, you can buy mosquito repellent patches, mosquito repellent bandages and mosquito repellent wipes  sold by reputable skin care brands in your country.

Sleeping under a mosquito net

Sleeping under a mosquito net gives you and your children  double  protection from mosquito bites.

Keep Your House Airy and Well-Lit

Mosquitoes are commonly frequent in dark and damp places. To prevent mosquitoes from entering your room or house, make sure it is filled with sunlight.

Plants that Repel Mosquitoes

Certain plants like Feverfew, Citronella and Catnip are known for repelling mosquitoes. You can plant these in your garden, keep them at your windowsill or doorways to stop mosquitoes from entering the house.

Wear proper clothes

Avoid mosquitoes from biting you by installing mosquito screens on your windows and wearing long-sleeved, thick fabric clothes. You can avoid going out in the evenings or at dusks. If you have to go out, use some natural mosquito repellent to stay safe.
