Portugal literally has it all. The reason why tourists flock there so often is because the country has some gorgeous landscape, historic monuments and cities, delicious cuisine and of course the beaches! And the best part is Portugal is a country where if in the morning you find yourself enjoying the beach and surfing, in the afternoons you can enjoy snow-skiing! And in fact there are some incredible hidden trekking and hiking paths in the beautiful mountainous landscapes of Portugal. So let us tell you a bit about some of the stunning hikes you can go on when in Portugal…

Seven Hanging Valleys Trail – No doubt, the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail is the most popular hiking path several tourists plan to go on. The 5.7 km trail stretches between Praia da Marinha and Praia de Vale Centianes and you can actually start from either of the points! It takes around 2 or 2 ½ hours to complete this trail and among many other destinations you can see the Benagil Beach, Corredoura Beach, and Carvalho Beach in all its stunning glory!

Costa da Caparica Trail – This beach trail is just outside of Lisbon and the best part about it is not many tourists know about it. So if you do want a peaceful trail all by your own, this would be the place to go to. This 10-kilometer trail will make you witness the stunning red sandstone cliffs known as the Arriba Fóssil. So make sure to carry your camera and start from Fonte da Telha heading up north.

Serra de Sintra Trail – If you are a fan of forests then this is the hike for you. It is one of most beautiful forests to see in Lisbon and apart from the hike it also is home to several castles and gardens that you can see.

Ponta de São Lourenço loop Trail – This hike is popular for the coastal views and rocky coastal cliffs that is abundant here. The best time to come for this hike will be early morning or afternoon as you can enjoy a peaceful time there without much crowd. It is situated on the island of Madeira and while the terrain is not difficult to hike on, you need to make sure the sun doesn’t burn you as there is a lack of shade.
