Surprising Tomcat facts that you never knew

On average, they have a shorter life span because they are highly territorial.

If you are a cat person you must know how life goes on with cats, you must know the moment of happiness when they lick you and the moment of annoyance when they poop outside of their litter box. Cats make our lives better indeed but if you do not know that a cat's personality traits differ based on their gender, we are here to help you with some fun facts about male cats.

They have shorter life span:

Do not feel sad if you have a tom cat. On average they have a shorter life span because they are highly territorial and get involved in fights easily with other male cats and not just for the territory they get involved in fights a lot during their mating season of the year. So the lifespan depends on whether the cat is indoor or outdoor. Indoor tomcats have extended life spans because they don't come in touch with other strange cats whereas outdoor cats merely live for 3-5 years.

They are more affectionate:

No, we don't mean that female cats are not affectionate but based on people's experience of keeping several cats, they pointed out that their male cats are much more affectionate. But many female cats are extremely loving. Female cats get mature with age and a motherly nature grows within them. On the other hand a tom cat's maturity has nothing to do with his age, they tend to stay like a little boy for the rest of their lives. But no matter how much love cats show. Both male and female cats deserve the same amount of love and care.

They are adventurous:

Compared to female cats, tom cats have forever wanderlust. They love exploring places outside of their territory. In 2019 a seven years old tabby cat named George, went viral on social media and everyone immediately fell for him. George used to travel on public transport, daily. He traveled for miles and was spotted in several buses and trains, he also got into people's cars with the purpose to explore and discover. Like George, all the other cats tend to discover new places, explore and even mark territory by spraying. Unlike female cats, they don't care to stay in specific areas.

They are lone wolves:

Unlike female cats, male cats prefer to spend most of their time by themselves. Despite their time of mating, they desire to stay like lone wolves, they enjoy their company and face all the storms alone no matter what, and this habit of spending time in solitary helps to develop their stoic personality as well.
