Suzuki Gixxer 250: The Underrated Gem of 250cc Segment

At INR 1.77-1.94 lakh ex-showroom, the affordable Gixxer 250 is one of the best naked sports motorcycles in the 250cc segment

Gather a crowd of 100 people and ask them which motorcycle they want from the 250cc segment? A majority would take the name of the KTM Duke 250, Husky sisters, Dominar 250 or the Yamaha FZ25. However, only a few will go for the Suzuki Gixxer 250. One of the best motorcycles in the naked sports motorcycle segment, the Gixxer 250, never received enough limelight from the media. Not to forget, for reasons unknown, a majority of the people never looked at it.

The brilliant engine

The Gixxer 250 has been around for quite some time and since its debut, it has drawn power from a 249cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, oil-cooled unit that generates a peak power of 26.5PS at 9,300rpm and torque of 22Nm at 7,300rpm. To many, the numbers may not be impressive when compared to the Duke 250, Dominar or Huskies, the engine is one of the most lenient engines in the 250cc with a good amount of grunt throughout the rev range. Be it the lower-end, mid or the top; the engine always has enough power at the slightest twist of the throttle.

You can tour on this comfortably

The Suzuki Gixxer is a motorcycle with an aggressive stance. However, it is still a motorcycle than can do anything. Be it daily commuting or highway rides, a user with a bit of willpower can make the Gixxer do anything. Compared to the Gixxer, the Duke and Huskies are not comfortable, whereas the Dominar is unnecessarily heavy with difficult manoeuvrability. On the other hand, the FZ25’s engine is too dull for highway runs.

It is eye soothing

Undoubtedly, the KTM Duke 250 is the best-looking motorcycle in the mentioned segment. However, the Gixxer 250 is an eye soothing experience, especially in the MotoGP-inspired blue livery. Not to forget, the three-zone LED headlight and chiselled fuel tank make the motorcycle look like a hunk. The sporty and aggressive nature of the motorcycle is further enhanced by a twin-muffler and a rowdy exhaust note.

Pricing on point

Overall, the Gixxer is a premium motorcycle with not an over-the-top aggressive engine and therefore; it is a great package with a great price-tag. In our country, the majority cannot opt for the expensive Duke or Huskies, whereas the poor quality Dominar and the lowly-powered FZ25 are motorcycles we do not recommend to any rider. Therefore, the Gixxer is the sweetest deal present in the market, which is nicely balanced as all things should be.
