The 2004 Indian flick Dhoom turned into a megahit because of  high-end motorcycles. However, another factor played a prominent role, and that was the voice of Thai star Tata Young!

In the present era, the Indian film industry is producing well-directed action films. However, there was a time when action movies were not the forte of Indian filmmakers. Although, in 2004, Indian director Sanjay Gadhvi did the unimaginable by directing a magnificent action movie named Dhoom. The plot was simple yet fascinating as he introduced high-end motorcycles such as the Suzuki Hayabusa and the Suzuki GSX-600R on the Indian silver screen which were operated by a gang of robbers to rob the city banks. Immediately, the cinema turned into a megahit and is still considered one of the finest action movies in the Indian film industry.

However, apart from the motorcycles and the tempting face of actor John Abraham, another factor played an essential role in the movie’s prosperity. It was none other than the Thai star Tata Amita Young who popped up in the credit scene of the movie and performed the title track of the movie in English. Immediately, Tata Young became a household name in India and she grabbed several awards, such as the MTV Award and the Indian Music Excellence Awards, for her raging performance. Not to overlook, the music video also earned the RAPA award for the best music video in 2005.

Much may not be informed that the music composer of the film Pritam Chakraborty had an arduous time composing the song for Tata Young. Given the differences in accents, Thai star Tata Young could not pronounce the term “Dhoom.” Instead, she used to utter it as “Doom.” A dialect coach closely worked with Tata, but she failed to get the pronunciation correct. After several tries, composer Chakraborty allowed her to perform in her own accent. Therefore, in the music video, she is heard saying “Doom” instead of “Dhoom”, which the Indian audience did not mind a bit.

At present, the 40-year-old star is a successful singer, actress, model and entrepreneur. Rose to stardom after winning the national singing contest in Thailand at 11, Tata Young got married to her long-term friend and businessman ChatadulSeenapongpipit. The couple has a kid named Ray whose pictures are all over Young’s Instagram account that has over one million followers.

It’s been 17 years since Tata rose to fame in India. However, the music video is still watched and loved by the masses.
