The Best Mileage Producer in the Class of 200

In the 200cc segment in India, these motorcycles offer the best-in-class mileage

“Kitna deti hai?” The phrase translates to “How much does it give?” which is the most critical question Indians ask when they visit a showroom to pick up a car or a motorcycle. For most Indians, mileage and price-tag are the two crucial factors while purchasing a vehicle. Although the industry is loaded with luxurious super motorcycles, the bulk of the purchasers linger between the 100-200cc segment. In fact, the 200cc motorcycle segment is cramped for many believe that the 200cc motorcycles are a major deal (Honestly, they are not). After all, we have the 500s, 700s and the 1,000s.

Going back to the 200s, let’s have a glance at the motorcycles that display the best-in-class mileage along with a modest performance.

TVS Apache RTR 200

The TVS Apache RTR 200 is a street-fighter motorcycle that is powered by a 197.75cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine. The power plant is tuned to spawn a peak power of 20.21hp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 16.8Nm at 7,500rpm. Not to mention, it boasts of a fuel injection system because of which it yields a handsome mileage. On the interstate, the Apache can return 44.6 kmpl whereas, in the metropolis, the motorcycle offers around 44 kmpl of mileage.

Yamaha FZ 25

The Yamaha FZ 25 derives strength from a 249cc SOHC, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that can churn out a maximum power of 20.51hp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 20.1Nm. On the freeway, the FZ does not offer a good mileage because it lacks a sixth gear. On the fifth gear, the motorcycle races on higher RPMs and at triple-digit speed; the mileage goes down to around 31 kmpl. Hence, one needs to maintain the motorcycle at around 90 kmph to experience a better mileage. In the downtown though, the FZ offers an economical number of close to 45 kmpl.

KTM Duke 250

It’s rather surprising that the KTM Duke 250 is on the list, for it is one of the most powerful 250cc in the country. With a 248.8cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine; the Duke produces 24Nm of torque and a peak power of 28.6hp. With such tremendous figures, it provides a splendid city mileage of adjacent to 40 kmpl whereas, on the highway, one can obtain a mileage of over 35 kmpl.

If you are not happy with the above three models, you can also pick the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 or the Suzuki Gixxer 250.
