The Finest Architectural Wonders Of South India

Southern India is home to many magnificent monuments that have stood majestically for ages. These monuments are breathtakingly grand and beautiful in their architecture.

Each monument tells a different story. It flaunts Dravidian architecture, Vijayanagara architecture, intricate pillars of Chalukyas and minute stone carvings made by Krishnadevaraya. These beautiful temples of South India, which range from tall, intricately carved gopurams to magnificent pillars and life-sized shrines, are a traveller's dream.

Falaknuma Palace

The Nizam of Hyderabad once owned this magnificent palace. The Falaknuma Palace was built using European Palladian architecture and is now a luxurious hotel. You can tour the palace, which is a shining landmark in southern India.

Golconda Fort

This fort, which is extraordinary in appearance, is also a historical treasure. It also has an incredible story. The Golconda Fortress was once home to the Kohinoor Diamond and the Hope Diamonds. These two are not the only famous diamonds that Golconda produced. There are many beautiful things to see in the fort, including mosques, apartments, and temples.

Meenakshi Amman Temple

Madurai is home to this stunning temple. It is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. The temple dates back to the 6th century. This temple, which is colourful and beautiful in appearance, has many intricate carvings. There are 14 gopurams that form the temple's monumental entrance towers. The southern tower is the tallest.

Fort St. George, Chennai

This fortress was built when Chennai was still known as Madras. It is also the first one that the British built in India. Fort St. George dates back to 1639 and was built in the typical British 17th- and 18th-century architectural style. It houses the Tamil Nadu government's important office, but it was once the home of Governor-General Clive.

Brihadeshwara Temple, Thanjavur

The Brihadeshwara temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built using traditional Chola architecture. It is located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The city was previously known as Tanjore. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was founded in 1010 AD. The tower is made of granite and is the highest in South India.

Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram

It is located on Rameswaram Island in Tamil Nadu. Ramanathaswamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Rama is believed to have prayed here to Lord Shiva. It has the longest and most elaborate corridors of any temple in South India. Rameswaram is also one of the Char Dhams for pilgrimage.
