A notable French Guatemalan, Óscar Isaac made his acting debut in the 1996 crime drama Illtown, followed by All About the Benjamins, and then through television series Law & Order came to prominence. It was his stellar performance in the 2013 tragicomedy Inside Llewyn Davis that earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination, and after that, there was no looking back. Here is a list of a few of his greatest movies of all time that one must watch.

A Most Violent Year

This 2014 crime drama film, written and directed by J. C. Chandor, stars Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain in leading roles, besides Alessandro Nivola, Albert Brooks, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. The story revolves around Abel Morales, played by Oscar Isaac, who is the owner of a small heating-oil company and is stressed by the growing competition in the oil trade. On top of that, his troubles brew more when his trucks begin to hijack, and he has to secure costly loans to expand his business. Set in 1981, Isaac's portrays a simple man trying to maintain a good living, and the struggles it follows keeps you glued to the film.

Balibo

This 2009 Australian war film directed by Robert Connolly is said to be loosely based on the 2001 book Cover-Up by Jill Jolliffe, an Australian journalist who met the men before they were killed. As per the story, the film follows the Balibo Five - a group of journalists who were captured and killed while reporting on activities just prior to the Indonesian invasion of East Timor of 1975. While the film follows journalist Roger East, played by Anthony LaPaglia, who travels to East Timor in 1975 to unearth the reason behind the deaths of the Balibo Five, Oscar Isaac portrays the role of young José Ramos-Horta, who later become the second President of East Timor.

Body Of Lies

This 2008 American spy thriller film by director Ridley Scott stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, and Mark Strong, besides Oscar Isaac. The film is set in the Middle East and follows CIA and Jordanian Intelligence in its case for a terrorist named al-Saleem. The screenplay of the film is based on the 2007 novel of the same name by David Ignatius. After fights and frustrations, the story takes a different turn. And Oscar Isaac portrays the role of Bassam, CIA field operative in Iraq and Ferris' associate.
