Thai Animation Films To Watch With Your Family
Move over your usual anime and Pixar films and start exploring Thai animation films on your next family movie night.
Be it talking toys or snow fairies, animated films have a little something for both kids and adults. When it comes to animation, there are a lot of options to choose from. Thai animation films are one of a kind and if you are looking to broaden your horizon a little in the animation genre, here are some suggestions for you.
Khan Kluay
Cute animals that can talk? Classic! Khan Kluay follows a young elephant with the titular name that gets separated from his herd and sets on an adventure to trace his way back to his father. In a turn of events Khan Kluay finds himself becoming the personal war elephant of King Naresuan. One of Thailand’s first 3D feature films, Khan Kluay explores the world through the eyes of a tiny young elephant without boring you with history classes on Thailand but still manages to insert educational and informative bits.
Khan Kluay 2
A sequel of the above mentioned film, Khan Kluay 2 follows Khan Kluay who has now grown up to be a father of newly born twins as well as a full time war elephant. He struggles trying to find a balance between his life as a father and his life as the “Lord Defeater of Hongsa”. Soon, it gets a little more complicated for Khan Kluay when learns that his family has been captured by the Hongsa army. While the first film focuses more on sacrificing for a greater cause, the sequel demonstrates that sacrifice does not always have to be bloodshed. Sometimes, it is time. The story evolves with Khan Kluay owning his role as a leader both in his family and the battlefield.
Nine Satra: The Legend of Muay Thai
Filled with themes of virtue, loyalty, sacrifice and selflessness, this Thai film offers one of the best animation experiences. The story follows Ott, a Muay Thai trained boy who sets on an adventure to fulfil a prophecy. The prophecy holds that Ott must travel to RamthepNakorn where he would defeat the tyrannical reign of the yaksha prince, Dehayaksa. Ott travel with a group of other fighters each having a mission of their own. Meanwhile, Dehayaksasets on a path of destroy8ing a mystical weapon, satravuth that holds the power of his defeat.
