Not just the game of men, women players are taking over the field

Being on the field and playing football is not just a game for boys anymore. Football or soccer, over the years, has also seen girls and women taking up the ground by storm with their kicks and goals. For the longest time on the playground where men were seen playing, but now even girls are falling in love with the sport. Over the years, we have seen women and hockey cricket teams; we even have women soccer teams and tournaments that have given us some football champions. Here are some top-class women football players from around the world.

Louisa Necib

French former professional footballer in a span of nine years has to her name 18 titles with the French club. Necib played as an attacking midfielder as she was described by the sports expert as a ‘gifted playmaker possessing superb technique’. Apart from her gift, the football player was also known for the smooth skills of elegant possession, sublime passing, and touch on the ball.

MiraclesFormiga

Brazilian midfielder for São Paulo FC, MiraildesFormiga, has to her credit many international records. Forming a, as she is commonly known, is also famous for being the only player who was present in all Olympic Games tournaments of women's football since its first edition at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Formiga also has a historical record for - in men's and women's - playing at seven different FIFA Women's World Cup tournaments. What makes her stand apart is that Forminga is the oldest football player to have scored a goal in the Fifa World Cup at the age of  37 and the oldest to have participated in one, at the age of 41.

Birgit Prinz

German former footballer Birgit Prinz is a two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion and three-time FIFA World Player of the Year. The player continues to remain one of the most prolific strikers. Prinz has to her credit four UEFA European Championships in 1997, 2001, 2005, and 2009; and three bronze with the German team. Owing to her spectacular football career Birgit Prinz is counted among one of the ten greatest female soccer players in history.
