Things to do when you feel depressed

Yes, it is difficult to push yourself in doing things, when you are depressed inside!

Depression might often not want you to get out of bed and start your day. Such a feeling affects daily life even more than one can imagine. Your sleep, mood, energy, appetite everything gets hampered when you all of a sudden start feeling low. Well, if it still is not impossible to get yourself out, here are some things you can try to get yourself out of the D-zone.

Start with a morning mantra. Even though life might seem difficult, and you lose interest in doing stuff, just try to start your day with a mantra. Start thanking the almighty for whatever you have today, for there are people who don’t have even half of what you do. Be a little more thankful, and start praying whenever you feel low. It may be for the job you have, or for the pet, or for the roof over your head.

Note down your accomplishments. It doesn't have to be a milestone. Just keep a note of the little things you’ve done, which you probably were planning to get done. It can really help to cheer you up for a while.

Read something funny. The time you start feeling depressed, open up your phone or laptop, and visit sites where you can find good jokes. Reading something funny will temporarily distract you from your depressed phase. You’ll slowly find yourself laughing out loud, and eventually feeling better.

Make plans with a friend. You surely will have friends you are comfortable around. If you start feeling low, make a plan with one of them, and maybe just go for a walk. This will keep you away from your unwanted depressed thoughts, and rather you can indulge in some interesting topic of conversation with your friend.

Start meditating. Just to confirm, meditation works. For depression it works real well. The moment you start feeling bad about your life, either start meditating on your own, or you can listen to some meditation music that will relax your mood, and you’ll start feeling fresh.

Read an adventurous book. Reading a book will always work to distract your brain. You’ll be transferred to a different zone, and you will slowly forget that you were depressed. Especially try reading some adventurous genre, or maybe some action thriller.
