Things to know about all the new Chrome Flex OS before installing it in your PC

Tired of your slow running PC or Laptop? Thinking of switching to Chrome Flex OS? Check out some quick bits before going for a total ‘OS’ change

Chrome OS which was launched back in 2010, primarily for Chromebooks and notebooks, has introduced itself in an all total revamped look popularly known as 'Chrome Flex OS'. The new OS platform is said to be much less burden raiser on hardware specifics and surprisingly smooth runner in both Windows and Mac-based systems. However, there still remain some gaps which may raise concerns for many professionals, mostly in terms of its hardcore functionality and task requirements. This article presents a few bits about Chrome Flex OS and some reasonable concerns related to the all-new platform.

Loads fast, but may not run your favorite old software

Although installing Chrome Flex OS on your old devices may bring back life on them, sadly you may lose access to your favorite or frequently used software. The Softwares which are designed solely for Windows and Mac systems, will not work on Chrome Flex OS and that's literally like bidding goodbye to your old mates. Even though apps like Google docs, Google Drive, Duo and others may still provide you with satisfactory results in terms of regular task compatibility, the platform may still not be able to meet your daily specific requirements.

Still at a very early stage and loaded with bug issues

Quite surprisingly, Chrome Flex OS taxes less on the hardware peripherals unlike its contrast competitors like Windows and Mac. But still, since the platform is in its initial phase of distribution, bug issues are found at times quite abnormally. Layout issues, screen freeze, connectivity, data space warnings and similar others may turn out to be a bitter twist of taste to the users. Furthermore, unavailability of play store and its access in the platform still remains as a valid concern for the users on whether to switch to flex.

Chrome Flex OS and dependency over internet

Unlike Windows and Mac, Chrome Flex OS shares its competency from internet connectivity without which, the platform is no less than a dull white screen. Even though the platform has certain apps with offline features, such as on Google Docs and others, its core functionality and expectations are greatly dependent on the internet.

Although Chrome Flex OS has its shades of errors and issues, being at the earliest stage of distribution and market acceptance, it has already created a position in the global OS platform market as a ‘new arch rival’. Hopes of users soars high on Google Play Store being integrated with the new Chrome Flex OS in future, which would surely hit a boon and produce a new key player in the market with endless possibilities.
