Things to Know About Damon's HyperFighter Sports Electric Motorcycle
Although not the first in the world, the new electric motorcycles from Damon Motors can generate a peak power output of 200hp
Damon Motors from Canada has unveiled its much-awaited HyperFighter line-up that comprises three new motorcycles; Colossus, Unlimited 20 and Unlimited 15. Out of the three models, two models can generate a peak power of 200hp along with a maximum torque output of 200Nm. Not to forget, before these three electric motorcycles, Damon launched the HyperSport a few years ago that also made 200hp of maximum power.
What is the relevance of this article?
In the last two or three years, electric cars have touched great heights. For example, the RimacNevera makes around 1,900hp of power. However, electric motorcycles are yet to touch the ceiling. Therefore, two new electric motorcycles that can generate 200hp of power is a piece of news that must be read by people. After all, there are only a handful of electric motorcycles that can achieve the same.
The flagship Colossus model
The top-of-the-line flagship model from Damon Motors is the Colossus that is priced at 35,000 US dollars (INR 26 lakh). What makes the Colossus a flagship model are the unique wheels, brakes sourced from Brembo, Ohlins suspension setup and single-sided swingarm. The motorcycle hits a top speed of 273 kilometres per hour and a 0 to 100 kilometres per hour mark in three seconds.
Unlimited 20, the second model with 200hp and 200Nm
The Unlimited 20 makes 200hp and 200Nm of power figures, along with similar top speed like the Colossus. It can cover a distance of 235 kilometres; another feature similar to the Colossus. However, it does not feature the unique wheels, Ohlins suspension, single-sided swingarm and Brembo brakes. The Unlimited 20 bears a price-tag of 25,000 US dollars (INR 18.6 lakh).
Unlimited 15, the toned-down version
The Unlimited 15 is the toned-down version that is more affordable than the Unlimited 20 and Colossus at 19,000 US dollars (14 lakh). Unlimited 15 delivers a reduced but peak power of around 150hp, whereas the 200Nm torque figure remains the same. The motorcycle’s top speed is limited to 240 kilometres per hour, and it offers a reduced mileage of 193 kilometres because of a smaller battery pack.
Last but not the least, given the price-sensitive Indian market, Damon Motors is unlikely to introduce these motorcycles in India.
