Things to Know About Yamaha's Recent Virtual Launch Event

Apart from launching the new R15, R15M and Aerox 155, Yamaha also launched a few other exciting products

A few days ago, given the COVID-19 pandemic, Yamaha organized a virtual launch event where it introduced the brand new R15, R15M and Aerox 155. Several eminent personalities from Yamaha appeared during the event, but Priyanka Kochhar (biker model) and Ravinder Singh (Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales) hosted it.

In this piece, for those who did not watch the event, we have drafted a brief of what happened at the virtual event organized by Yamaha.

R15 and R15M- Yamaha launched the much-awaited R15 V4 and a more R1 inspired R15M. The same engine that was present in the previous-generation iteration powers both the motorcycles. However, the new models make 0.3hp lesser power but 1Nm more torque compared to the last-gen model. The new models are equipped with traction control, ABS, slipper and clutch assist, variable-valve actuation and more. The R15 V4 Racing Blue is priced at INR 1,72,800, whereas the red and black variants are priced at INR 1,67,800 and INR 1,68,800, respectively. The M is priced at INR 1,77,800 whereas there is also a Monster Energy variant which is priced at INR 1,79,800.

Aerox 155- Apart from the R15s, Yamaha surprised us by launching the Aerox 155, which is a scooter based on the R15. The scooter is powered by the R15’s 155cc, VVA, single-cylinder engine, but it is in a different state of tune. Since it is a scooter, it makes 15hp and 13.9Nm combined with a CVT powertrain. However, the international variant of the Aerox makes 15.36hp and 13.9Nm. In terms of features, the Aerox is loaded with a start-stop feature, LED lighting, charging socket, Bluetooth connectivity and ABS. Not to forget, even though it is a scooter, it features a 14-inch 140-section tyre on both ends. The scooter begins at INR 1,29,000.

Monster Energy- The Japanese company also launched a Monster Energy livery on several models. We have mentioned the R15 in the first paragraph, but apart from the R15, the Aerox, FZ series, MT-15 and RayZR has also received a Monster Energy livery update. However, similar to the R15, the Monster Energy variants of the mentioned models are limited in numbers. Therefore, only a few lucky first buyers will be able to get their hands on the limited-edition variants of these models.
