Things To Remember While Undertaking Post-quarantine Vacation

In case you are traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic, being mindful and cautious is crucial.

However, vacations and traveling aren’t the same as pre-pandemic: Whether or not you are vaccinated, you still need to take precautions when traveling or going for a holiday.

The COVID-19 has left all of us boxed up in our homes for months. With the situation normalizing again, the risk of contracting the virus is not entirely gone. So in case, you have planned out a vacation, you will have to bear some essential tips in your mind. Check out the guide below before undertaking a post-quarantine vacation.

Make a list of travel essentials

Be it catching a flight for an office tour or a vacation, you must make a list of essentials at the time of travel. Before heading out, make a list and cross-check to ensure you have them all marked. To be safe, remember to carry a hand sanitizer with more than 60 percent alcohol content, face masks, disinfectant wipes, and tissues.

Use face shields and masks

Face shields can be useful as a reminder not to touch your face or your mask. Make sure everyone is wearing their masks properly while traveling. These safety items can help you maintain a certain level of hygiene and prevent contact with disease-causing respirators.

Be mindful of what you touch

You probably know that the novel coronavirus has been spreading at an accelerated rate. This merits a heightened sense of caution. It is vital to be mindful when using devices or touching surfaces that others have used too, like check-in machines, ATMs, escalators, and the like. Use a generous amount of sanitizer whenever you touch any of these surfaces and remember to avoid touching your face.

Minimize human contact

Wherever possible, try to rely on automation and technology. While traveling, get your boarding pass from the machine and sanitize your hands afterward. In terms of food and retail outlets within railway stations and airports, try not to touch common surfaces, maintain the recommended six-foot distance from everyone around, and opt for contactless payment options.

Wipe down your surroundings

While taking your seat, do a quick scrub down of the hard surfaces around you with disinfectant wipes. Sanitize the seat flap, the back of the seat in front of you, the armrests, the tray table, as all these surfaces may be infested with infectious respiratory droplets. Ensure that the surfaces remain wet for the time it takes for the disinfectant to work.

Be mindful of the water and food

Consuming anything outside can pose a health hazard. It is advisable to avoid eating food while out, but one needs to at least drink water or have something when out for longer durations. Make sure to go for bottled water, better if you carry your own bottle. For food, check if the makers are following all the safety protocols and if they are serving fresh food.

Maintain proper hygiene to enjoy your post-quarantine vacation. Have fun and stay safe!
