Human civilization evolved through the evolution of technology, weaponry, and warfare is no different.

Bettering the efforts put in weaponry increases the chances of winning. During the Bronze Age, the weapons were lesser in strength than when technology-enabled iron-made arms and ammunition. The weapons made of irons were indeed far more potent than the bronze armament. The invention of guns, of course, challenged the leverage of bow and arrow. Tanks were better than the cavalry.

The invention of every new technology would prove to be yet another game-changer on the battlefield and would drive the arms market immensely.

We don’t have the span to talk about all of those weapons but let me give you a brief idea about these three ancient weapons that enabled the person that wielded them an immense advantage while on the battlefields.

Again, it is interesting to note that the technologies used in manufacturing these unique and advanced weapons are forever lost in time.

The Real-Life Game of Thrones’ Valerian Steel

It’s called the unbreakable Damascus steel, the legends of which outshines the glory of Game of Thrones’ famous Valerian Steel. The weapons made of the alloy would not only be unbreakable, but they’d be utmost flexible too. The fun part is, it wasn’t really from Damascus in Syria. It was actually from India. The reason for the misnomer is that Europeans generally bought it from the bazaars of Damascus.

The Unquenchable Greek wildfire

The tale of the legendary Greek fire, much like the wildfire used in Game of Thrones, goes back to ancient times. It’s curious to find such a fire in that era. It was like an ancient version of napalm used by the later Byzantine Empire. History first saw the horrors of the Greek Fir back in 672 AD. It became impossible to contain such a fire, all the controlling measures failed. It even burnt upon the water!  It was not possible to extinguish such fire. The fire was created using hides soaked in vinegar mixed with sand and old urine. It was a kind of sticky liquid that got stuck to a ship or human flesh. And everything in its contact burnt like literal hell.

The Magical Ulfberht sword!

Here is yet another gem of a weapon from ancient times. It is the legendary Ulfberht sword. These were high-quality swords, valued highly by their Viking wielders. These swords were reserved only for the very elites among the Viking warriors. Only they could afford these kinds of privileges. The speciality of these swords was about their sharpness and strength. Using such a sword offers one an immense advantage over their opponent on the battlefield.

Well, then, if you ever get to time travel and find yourself in the ancient times, at least you’d know your defence, #amirite?
