Always keep in mind that your report is going to make an impact and there are people who blindly follow what they read. Style

The style of writing matters the most when it comes to writing for print media. You should remember that your news should be informative and easy to understand. Instead of adding fancy words and slangs, try to connect with the universal audience with your simple storytelling abilities. What will make you different from the crowd is your way of saying a simple information but don't be too melodramatic. Always try to write short and simple sentences without much slangs.

Lead

Writing a good lead is an art which you need to learn if you want your story to become a success. The lead is the first 3-4 sentences if your story. They are important as they can make or break your readers. To write a good lead, you should include as many facts as you can while leaving the details. Don't try to reveal everything in the first few sentences otherwise the reader will not want to read further.
