Tips to declutter your wardrobe in the most efficient way

Lets get ready to tackle a messy wardrobe.

Decluttering your wardrobe means tackling a lot of clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories. And to say the least, it will leave your life decluttered as well since you’ll be able to find things easily and make time for other things. So let’s take a look at how you can tackle a messy wardrobe and make your life easier:

First, take it all out

First and foremost, take out everything from your closet and make a pile of that stuff on your bed or bedroom floor.  Now take a moment to look at all the stuff and feel a sense of joy that you will get when everything will be back in its proper place.

Gather everything

Go around your house and gather all your other clothing, accessories, shoes and other stuff like out-of-season clothing, scarves, loungewear, jewellery etc.

Go through the pile

Take a look at everything and figure out how much of that do you actually wear? While certain clothes might bring you joy or remind of a memory when you look at them, but they don’t necessarily fit you now or go by your current style. Get rid of them ASAP by either consigning them or donating them. A good wardrobe means keeping clothes that are basic yet trendy rather than having clothes that you wear seldom.

Try out everything in your ‘maybe’ pile

Once you shortlist your clothes, try them out to see if the colour and fit suits you. If yes, make sure they go with the current trends and then only keep them. Else discard.

Finalise your clothing

Keep all your clothes together in one place finally. Don’t skip your off-season clothing or any other loungewear/nightwear by keeping them in other drawers. It’s better to have everything together at one spot for easy access.

Get to bags, shoes and jewellery

As for the clothing, you can easily sort them out. But with bags, shoes and jewellery, it’s a different ball game altogether as they get along with a variety of attires. So make sure to only keep what makes you happy, and you know you will certainly wear it.

Finally, discard the rejected

Once you are done with decluttering your wardrobe, make sure to hand the discarded stuff down to friends or relatives apart from donating them to an orphanage or any other place according to requirement.

Sit back and relax!
