Traveling solo across India is what every individual should experience at least once.

It's full of adventure that one can cherish for an entire lifetime.

If you plan to do so, there are certain things which you should keep in mind to avoid all the hassles.

India is blessed with a wide range of tourist attractions - such as mighty mountains, gorgeous beaches, lush jungles, magnificent architecture, etc. - and the list is never-ending. Also, thanks to thewelcoming people everywhere, the country makes for an ideal destination for solo travelers from all across the world. It allows you to explore the country's rich culture and create unforgettable memories, all on your own. On the other hand, you get to rediscover yourself and find the true significance of life.

However, it's a no-brainer that solo traveling in any country has its risks, and India is no exception. So, read ahead to get a prior idea and get a better experience on road.

Choose your destination wisely

It's highly important to pick a destination that suits your budget and interests. And if you are a first-timer, consider the places that are easy to explore and welcoming to outsiders. It will help you gain the required experiences and make the whole trip a lot more interesting.

Do some research beforehand

As India is full of different cultures, it's suggested to know every little thing about the destination, before you embark on the journey. So, study the maps properly and read all the articles related to the place. Also, research about the local rules, weather conditions, and dress codes.

Pack lightly but wisely

Packing is probably the most challenging task of a solo trip. You have to carry all the necessities, and still, make it light. So, be wise and include only the must-have things such as 2/3 sets of clothes, water bottles, medicines, tissue papers, etc. And make sure to take all the important papers (like Aadhar card).

Be cautious while traveling in buses/trains

While India is mostly safe, there is still a risk of snatching, especially when you are traveling in buses/trains. So, be cautious and take extra care of your luggage. Do not carry cash or expensive items (for example, jewelry) in your bags. Also, never accept any food items or drinks from your fellow passengers.

Eat healthy and maintain hygiene

As there's no one else to look after you, staying healthy is the most crucial aspect of any solo trip. The weather in most parts of India is humid, and so, eat as light as possible and drink plenty of water (if possible, avoid the tap water) at all times. Say a big no to junk foods, and try to maintain basic hygiene throughout the trip.

Last but not the least, meet new people and never feel hesitate to ask for help from the locals.
