Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, has a number of green parks which offer a breath of fresh air amidst the concrete jungle.

When we think about Bangkok, the image of an urban area filled with traffic, skyscrapers and shopping malls come in our mind. However, aside from all these things, the city also houses plenty of mesmerizing green parks which literally transport the visitors to a new world altogether. These parks are packed with lush green plants, vast grasslands, artificial lakes and more. Also, there are a vast variety of outdoor activities as well as sports facilities. Below, we have described some of the most spectacular public parks located in the city of Bangkok.

Lumpini Park: Lumpini Park, named after the birthplace of Buddha in Nepal, is the most popular green space in Central Bangkok. The park's 142 acres of land is abode to an artificial lake, long pathways along with various flora and fauna. Here, a lot of Bangkok residents gather to perform cardio exercises, on a regular basis. Benjakitti Park: Benjakitti Park is located next to the Queen Sirikit National Conventional Center. Also, there is a meditation center where a lot of visitors gather in the morning and evening. The place is an ideal destination for family picnics.

Chatuchak Park: Chatuchak Park, located around the Chatuchak Weekend Market, houses a massive bridge along with a pristine lake filled with various kinds of fishes. Also, it offers tennis courts, soccer fields and several other sports facilities. Here, you can take a stroll, do some jogging or indulge in some water activities. The visitors are highly recommended to explore the nearby Thai Literature and Herb Garden.

Rama IX Park: Rama IX Park is a massive green space featuring a majestic botanical garden. The park, spreading over an area of almost 200 acres, is home to a number of globally inspired gardens. Also, there's a huge lake where the visitors can indulge in activities like sailing and kayaking. Being relatively less crowded, the area allows you to spend some alone time amidst the laps of nature.

Queen Sirikit Park: Queen Sirikit Park, spreading over 22 hectares of land, was built as a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen in 1992. The park is located near the Children's Discovery Museum. It has a botanical garden, secluded pond and the Lotus and Water Lily Yard. Here, trees from the Thailand's 76 regions are planted in the shape of the country's geographical map.
