Top 5 Satyajit Roy’s Creations You Should Watch Before You Die.

The industry has known Satyajit Ray as one of the greatest filmmakers, authors, screenwriters and music composers. 

Born and brought up in Calcutta in 1921, he died in 1992 in the same place at 70 years. He received innumerable awards, including 36 National Film Awards, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Bhushan, Legion of Honor- the highest French honour given by the French Government, Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of India, and Academy Honorary Award of Lifetime Achievement from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Today, we will talk about five creations of Satyajit Ray that all should watch at least once.

The Apu Trilogy: 

This is a trilogy about a boy named Apu, played by Soumitra Chatterjee. This trilogy includes PatherPanchali,Aparajito and Apur Sansar (The World of Apu). This trilogy is often known as a milestone in Indian cinematography. Also, it got ranked among the masterpieces of the Indian film industry. The first film of this trilogy received many national and international awards and was a great hit.

Goopy-Bagha Series: 

Goopy-Bagha series includes GupiGyne- BaghaByne, HirakRajarDeshe, and GoopyBaghaPhire Elo. The first two films were the Satyajit Ray creation. However, his son, Sandip Ray, directed the last film of the series. It is a series of fantasy adventure comedy films. Those films also got a very positive response from the film critics, along with the National Awards and many other international awards.

Charulata: 

Charulata, one of the greatest films by Ray, is based on Rabindranath Tagore’s short story Nastanirh (Broken Nest). This film is about a lonely wife, Charu, in 19th century Bengal. This film’s cinematography, the visual presentation, and the camera work got very positive responses from the critics. This film earned Silver Bear for Best Director at the 15th Berlin International Film Festival.

Feluda Series:

Feluda is a Bengali detective franchise created by Ray. It comprised 35 published and four unpublished stories. It is the detective adventures of Prodosh C Mitter, often known as Feluda, accompanied by his cousin Tapesh Ranjan Mitter, known as Topse, and a well-known thriller writer Lalmohan Ganguli, known as Jatayu. Feluda appeared in films in 1974 when Ray directed the first film of the series Sonar Kella. This film achieved the Best Screenplay and Direction Award at the 22nd National Film Awards.

Professor Shonku:

Professor TrilokeshwarShonku is a fictional scientist character made by Ray. He is a physicist and an inventor by profession. It is a series of 38 stories of various science fiction adventures, including space travel and other inventions of Professor Shonku.
