Top ADVs Under 500cc in India 2020

For the adventurous soul, the Indian two-wheeler industry offers a buffet of ADV models

While adventure or ADV genre is not a prominent one in India, it is still favoured by a huge bulk of riders. The ADV motorcycles are explicitly created in such a manner that they allow riders to reach destinations where proper roads are a distant dream or non-existent. They are armed with an enormous fuel tank to ensure that riders can cover deserted areas without requiring a refuelling stop, along with enough pannier setup for carrying all the essentials. The suspensions provide enough dampening to support a plush ride, along with off-roading tyres for adequate grip.

In this article, we have detailed the best ADVs under 500cc that one can purchase in India.

Hero Xpulse 200

The Xpulse 200 from Hero is the most affordable entry-level ADV one can purchase in India. At INR 1.36 lakh, the offering from Hero is equipped with a 199.6cc single-cylinder engine that is mated to a five-speed gearbox. For adventure tours, the Xpulse 200 gets off-roading tyres along with spoked wheels and bash plate to secure the engine from sand or enormous rocks. Further, it features a knuckle guard and short windscreen along with 200mm of lofty ground clearance.

BMW 310 GS

The 310 GS from BMW is a hot favourite in the Indian ADV market. At INR 2.80 lakh, the 313cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that also comes with a slipper and assists clutch. For adventuring touring, it gets special pannier system to accommodate additional fuel canisters and saddlebags. To handle poor roads, the BMW is equipped with long-travel USD forks along with preload-adjustable monoshock.

Kawasaki Versys X 300

The Kawasaki Versys X 300 is on the costlier side with a substantial price-tag of INR 4.69 lakh. However, the tag is fairly justified considering it’s a younger member of the famous Versys family. The ADV from Kawasaki is equipped with a 296cc parallel-twin engine that churns out 39hp of power and 25.7Nm of peak torque. The Versys lives up to its legacy with the help of additional equipment such as fog lights, hard panniers and frame crossbar.

Royal Enfield Himalayan

Another ADV within the 500cc segment is the Royal Enfield Himalayan that has established a respectable place for itself in the Indian ADV space. The Himalayan is sold at INR 1.95 lakh and is equipped with a 411cc engine that develops 24.49hp of power and 32Nm of torque. Unlike the other models, the Himalayan is a dose lower on the tech sector. However, it stars a switchable ABS and hazards light keys along with pannier systems.
