The Tiger franchise starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif is one of the most successful franchises in Bollywood. It has two movies, EkTha Tiger and Tiger Zinda already released and a new Tiger movie is up for release next year. EkTha Tiger was released in 2013 and it was directed by Kabir Khan while the sequel Tiger ZindaHain was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The Tiger series is a part of the spy universe Yashraj Films is creating, Shahrukh Khan starrerPathan and HrithikRoshan’s War are also part of the universe.
Singham starring Ajay Devgn, KajalAgarwal, and Prakash Raj was a big hit of 2011 and it was the first movie in the cop universe Rohit Shetty is creating. Its sequel Singham 2 starring Ajay Devgn reprising his role as Singham and KareenaKapoor, a new entrant to the franchise was released in 2016 to a roaring success. The character of Singham also appeared in two more cop universe movies, Simbba and Suryavanshi. The shooting of the third part of Singham, tentatively titled Singham 3 is going to begin by year-end.
The Ashiqui series is famous for its songs and both the Ashiqui movies were musical hits. The first part Ashiqui was released in 1993 and was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The music of the movie was given by the music director duo Nadeem-Sharavan and it became one of the highest-selling music albums ever in India. Its spiritual successor Ashiqui 2 was released in 2013, it was a musical romantic drama movie directed by MohitSuri and featured Aditya Roy Kapoor and ShraddhaKapoor as main leads and it was a big hit at the box office.
