Top Five Movies of Martin Scorsese to Binge Watch

Though it’s difficult to choose only five movies by Martin Scorsese, we have compiled a list of five top movies of Martin Scorsese to Binge-watch.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

“The Wolf of Wall Street” is based on a true story. Martin Scorsese adapted the movie from a memoir of the same name by Jordan Belfort, the main character of the film as well.

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo Di Caprio collaborated on many movies and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’’ is one of the best movies of this director-actor pairing. The movie tells the real-life story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise as a rich stockbroker living a drug-fuelled life to his fall, with the backdrop of crime, corruption, and the federal government.

Gangs of New York (2002)

Gangs of New York is set in the mid-1800s New York and it tells the story of opposing gangs in New York in Five Points Manhattan.

It’s one of the many Martin Scorsese movies that featured Leonardo Di Caprio, but it’s the performance of Daniel Day-Lewis that many regard as the high point of this film. The movie is a story of two rival gangs during the mid-1800s led by Billy the Butcher (Daniel Day-Lewis) and the son of his dead rival Amsterdam Vallon played by Leonardo Di Caprio.

Taxi Driver (1976)

Regarded as one of the greatest movies ever, Taxi Driver featured Robert De Niro as the troubled soul Travis Bickle. It won the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Starring Robert De Niro, Taxi Driver beautifully and dangerously tells the story of a delusional, alienated cab driver. The epic scene performed by Robert De Niro ‘You talking to me’ is arguably the most famous scene in movie history. The movie was an intense portrait of the frenzy and disillusionment that defined the post-Vietnam War America.

The Departed

Despite being regarded as one of the greatest directors ever Martin Scorsese was always eluded from the Academy Awards and finally, he received it for the movie The Departed.

The Departed is a remake of the Honk Kong Gangster drama The Internal Affairs. The film takes place in Boston. An Irish gangster Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) plants Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) as a mole within the Massachusetts State Police; at the same time, the police assign undercover agent Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) to infiltrate Costello's gang.

Goodfellas (1990)

Goodfellas is unarguably the greatest gangster movie along with The Godfather and Scarface and definitely Scorsese’s best to date.

Martin Scorsese directed the definitive gangster movie of the 90s,Goodfellas without doubt can be counted among the top three gangster movies ever. It featured Ray Liotta in his career-best performance along with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci whose performance in the movie garnered most of the acclaim. Without a doubt, this is Martin Scorsese at his best, and you cannot miss it if you are a fan of Scorsese movies.
