Top homegrown Indian jewellery designers, you should look out for
Here are some local jewellery brands that deserve a place in your closet.
Go vocal for local - that’s the mantra that all Indians are swearing by. And why not? We should certainly promote homegrown labels that are made in India and for India. It not only gives a boost to the artisans but also puts India on the globe. So when it comes to jewellery, let’s take a look at some local brands that certainly deserve a place in your vanity casket:
Hannan
Bhaavya Bhatnagar and Rishi Baweja, who are childhood friends, first collaborated to co-create a clothing label. They soon ended up launching a jewellery brand named Hannan, under which they create one-of-a-kind charms. They are made in resin, ceramic and freshwater pearls, which in turn give a very endearing feel to the brand. Their sculptural line earrings, pear-drop necklaces and ear cuffs are something that you cannot miss. Hannan’s designs are a showcase of local crafts, and they employ craftsmen that are matching their steps with rapid industry demands.
Lune
Located in the quaint streets of Chimbai Village in Bandra, Lune means Light and the brand has some whimsical and delicate pieces, which you should certainly check out. In fact, they are worn by celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and others.
Bhavya Ramesh Jewellery
This Bangalore-based brand launched by self-taught Bhavya Ramesh has a naturalist and bohemian feel to it. The free-spirited pieces are more of an extension to the owner’s passion and who doesn’t mind promoting local artisans with a curious imagination.
Lazy Lemons Studio
At Lazy Lemons Studio, jewellery is moulded with upcycled brass. Their antique-finished ‘Tiger’ hoops and ‘VivaLaFrida’ earrings are among the celebrity favourites and do not miss the abstract designs in rings and earrings.
Olio
Ashna Singh and Sneha Saksena came together to create a jewellery brand which is more like a modern-day heirloom. The striking and versatile designs of this Kolkata-based brand can be the perfect addition to your wardrobe.
One Nought One One
Conceptualised by Zinal Vora and Ayushi Thakkar, both of them design graduates from Gujarat, One Nought One One is a brand that features pieces which are both minimalistic and high-impact. You cannot miss their signature oversized earrings in all shapes and finishes.
ME by Megha
This brand is a brain-child of designer Megha Agarwal, who creates jewellery inspired by her travels around the world. Her unique artistic language boasts of simplicity, and the brand is totally unmissable if you want to have something classy in your jewellery box.
