Top skills to add to your résumé.

Writing a good résumé is one of the many steps we take towards building our career.

It can be described as a difficult task, as you need to balance between providing quality information and keeping a watch on its length. Altogether, the résumé must put a lasting impression on the members of the hiring department. They have a keen interest in the section which mentions your skillset. So, you must add relevant skills* based on the position you applied for in a company. (*you must possess those in reality.)

Once you have chosen the career path, make sure to practice the skill that will help you stand out among other applicants. Here, we listed a few skills in demand by top companies.

Some basic knowledge about computer software and its application can add weightage to the résumé.

Most of us know about the vast area covered under computer software skills. Therefore, you can break it up into segments and mention the technical knowledge. Also, you can add the certificates and license to support your grip on the skill.

Having writing skills can make you eligible for different job posts.

For example, today, a person with good writing skills is required for managing marketing campaigns, creating online content, writing innovative scripts, editing, presenting business reports and others.

Include specialized skills for operating heavy types of machinery before those applying for relevant job posts.

Most inventory or construction companies look for certified or trained candidates before hiring. So, if you are an applicant for similar industrial jobs, grab on-field experience from training institutes. Hands-on experience operating cranes, forklifts, backhoes or driving transporting vehicles will help you in the recruitment process.

Companies are actively hiring professionals having knowledge or experience in handling accounts.

As we step our foot in the real world, we understand the value of practical knowledge. Hence, apart from grabbing theoretical concepts, one must gather in-hand experience too. Finance and accounts are a sensitive subject, and companies generally look for candidates who can analyze budgets, handle accounts, parse numbers and manage other aspects of finance. Therefore, listing your experience working on MS Excel, QuickBooks, Big Data analysis, and others will help your résumé to get shortlisted.

Listing about multiple languages’ knowledge in the résumé will add some extra points to support your application.

Learning different languages, including foreign languages, will help you apply for jobs in various regions (and overseas). In addition, it creates an ever-lasting impression on the hiring managers of the country. However, they might test your fluency during the interview procedure.
