Underrated Indian series on Netflix that you might have missed

We can't deny the fact that it was Netflix's 'Sacred Games' which opened the door for many other OTT platforms to produce web series in India. Though over the years, Netflix India has quite lost its popularity when it comes to Indian original series; still there are some shows which are definitely worth a binge.

  1. Delhi Crime: Richie Mehta's 'Delhi Crime' is a criminally underrated series which is based on the horrible crime incident that took place in Delhi in 2012 and shook up the entire nation. The series shows how the Delhi Police force; led by DCP Vartika Chaturvedi investigated the whole incident and nabbed the culprits. From giving attention to each and every detail to brilliant cinematography, from breathtaking background score to top notch performances from all the cast members; 'Delhi Crime' is an extremely well made series and stands out among the others. It won "International Emmy Awards for Best Drama Series" in 2020.
  2. Ghoul: Based on the Arab folklore, 'Ghoul' is a horror miniseries that contains 3 episodes. It revolves around Nida Rahim, a woman cadet officer who is appointed at a military detention centre to interrogate a terrorist. Set in a dystopian future in India, the series starts in a slow pace and as the plot unfolds, it becomes very engaging and throws light on nationalism, fascism, religion and several other issues. It stars Radhika Apte, Manav Kauland Ratnabali Bhattacharya in lead roles and all of them have done a brilliant job in their respective roles.
  3. Stories by Rabindranath Tagore: Based on the classic short stories and novels by the writer and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the series contains 26 episodes and each of them depicts several shades of human nature and emotions, relationships, Bengali traditions, vintage culture and many more things. Directed by Anurag Basu, Debatma Mondal, Tani Basu and starring Radhika Apte, Amrita Puri, Sainee Raj etcand the series is majestically beautiful and it will fill your heart with a lot of warmth.
  4. Masaba Masaba: 'Masaba Masaba' is an entertaining and heartwarming series, based on the life of fashion designer Masaba Gupta. The series is like a breath of fresh air and it shows the diverse and fascinating lifestyle of Masaba Gupta, her relationship with her mother Neena Gupta and how she overcomes all the challenges in her personal as well as professional life. It stars the mother-daughter duo Neena Gupta and Masaba Gupta, playing themselves and truly, Masaba's performance will completely blow your mind.
Also 'Tajmahal 1989', 'Bard of Blood', 'Hasmukh' and 'Girl's Hostel' are some of the Indian series on Netflix, that you can definitely give a watch.
