Underrated places and unexplored gems to visit in Chile

Welcome to Chile, a country full of natural wonders and hidden gems waiting to be explored! While the Atacama Desert and Torres del Paine National Park may be on every traveller's bucket list, there are plenty of underrated places that often get overlooked.

Here are some of Chile's lesser-known destinations that will leave you in awe. From the rugged wilderness of Cape Horn to the picturesque beauty of Marble Caves, there are some great places.

Cape Horn - Cape Horn is a place of myth and legend. This windswept archipelago has long been known as one of the most treacherous stretches of water in the world, with powerful currents and unpredictable weather conditions that have caused countless shipwrecks over the centuries. Despite its reputation for danger, Cape Horn also offers some of the most pretty scenery you'll ever lay eyes on. The rugged cliffs and rocky outcrops are home to an array of unique wildlife species, including albatrosses, penguins, and seals. One way to experience Cape Horn is by taking a cruise through the Beagle Channel. As you navigate around these wild islands, you'll see towering glaciers calving into turquoise waters and marvel at dramatic rock formations sculpted by wind and sea spray. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even disembark onto one of these isolated islands to explore their untamed landscapes first hand. Just be prepared for some serious hiking - there are no roads or easy paths here!

Pucon - Pucon is a picturesque town located in southern Chile. It is situated on the edge of Lake Villarrica and at the foot of an active volcano, making it an ideal destination for adventure seekers. If you're into hiking and climbing, then you'll definitely want to explore the surrounding mountains. The Villarrica Volcano hike offers stunning views over the Andes and its crater lake, while trekking through Huerquehue National Park will take you past glacial lakes and ancient forests. For those who love water sports, Pucon has plenty to offer as well. You can go kayaking or white-water rafting down one of many pristine rivers that flow into Lake Villarrica.

Marble Caves - The Marble Caves in Chile are a true natural wonder. These caves, also known as the Capillas de Mármol, are located on the shores of General Carrera Lake and can only be reached by boat. The unique formations of these caves were created over thousands of years by the erosion caused by wind and water. The swirling patterns and colours of blue, green, grey and white are absolutely breath-taking. Visitors can explore the caves on foot or take a boat tour to fully appreciate their beauty.
