An actor and singer John Travolta rose to fame during the 1970s through sitcoms like Welcome Back, Kotter and some early box office successes in the late ‘70s films Carrie, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, and Urban Cowboy added to his fame. But with independent film Pulp Fiction came unprecedented success, since then there has been no looking back. The 67-year-old actor since then has had nominations in Academy Award, won Golden Globe Award, and has received a total of six nominations. Here are a few John Travolta movie suggestions for your movie night.

She’s So Lovely This 1997 film by director Nick Cassavetes stars Sean Penn, Robin Wright, and James Gandolfini besides John Travolta - who also produced this romantic drama. Penn as Eddie Quinn and Travolta as Joey Giamonti essay the role of men who are bidding for the affection of Maureen Murphy Quinn played by Robin Wright. The film is written by John Cassavetes, who had passed away eight years before the film was made.

The Thin Red Line This 1998 war film written and directed by Terrence Malick is based on a 1962 novel of the same name by author James Jones. And not to be mistaken as a remake, the film tells a fictionalized version of the Battle of Mount Austen, which was part of the Guadalcanal Campaign in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The film shows soldiers of C Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment and 25th Infantry Division. Travolta as one of the chief military officers involved in the battle brings the tale alive along with the star-studded cast.

Primary Colors This 1998 comedy-drama directed by Mike Nichols is an adaptation from the novel Primary Colors: A Novel of Politics. The story is a roman à clef about then US President Bill Clinton's first presidential campaign in 1992 and his relationship with Hillary Clinton. The film also stars Emma Thompson, Billy Bob Thornton, and Larry Hagman besides John Travolta. This satirical political drama is strictly speaking a fictional story of Governor Jack Stanton, who later becomes President Jack Stanton, played by Travolta, and his wife Susan Stanton, played by Thompson.

A Civil Action This 1998 legal drama film by director Steven Zaillian stars Travolta as a big short Boston attorney who head-on takes the case against a company accused of poisoning a local water supply, thus causing people cancer.
