Walk In High Heels Without Pain: Follow The Do’s And Don'ts To Wear Heels Comfortably

Even though Carrie Bradshaw made walking in high heels seem like a child’s play in ‘Sex And The City,’ but we do know about its struggle in real life. Don’t we ladies?

No woman can survive without heels. Tall or short, every woman is fond of high heels. For some, wearing heels is a necessity, while others do it for their own delight. Let us admit, heels are an essential part of all wardrobes, but every heel-loving woman has this age-old question: How can one be comfortable in heels? Well, you can wear heels without hurting your feet, and the following guide will help you know how.

Do not buy heels early morning

Our feet are at their most swollen state in the morning. If you go shopping for heels early during the day, you will not get the perfect fit as you would get later in the day.

Do gather knowledge about foot type

You should be aware of your foot type. You have to find out whether your foot type is flat or high arch. To find out, dip your foot into water and step on a plain sheet to get an impression. The impression will help you determine how flat your foot is, and if you have an arch, how high it is. Knowing your foot type will help you mitigate or avoid pain.

Do not wear heels for a prolonged period, especially 3-inches or more

If you are planning to wear high heels (3-inches or more), try to avoid walking constantly and sit down more often to rest your feet. The suitable height for your heels would be 1 to 2 inches, and it is best, if you stick with the size.

Do not allow your shoes to continuously rub and chafe the back of your feet

If you find your heel chafing and rubbing on the back of your feet, put a Telfa pad on that spot to protect the skin. Excessive chafing can result in painful Pump Bump (a deformity of the bone at the back of the foot), cuts, and even blisters.

Do try wedges

If you are fond of wearing heels, wedges are a more comfortable alternative that can offer you the feel and height of a heel but with lesser pain and greater support.

Do not wear narrow, high pencil-thin heels or shoes with straps

Apart from the fact that such shoe types can cause the worst type of foot pain, wearing them for too long can even lead to a severe calf, hip, lower back, and heel problems.

Keeping these tips in mind will help you style your high heels without causing too much pain.
