There are movies out there that can help you recover and move on, whether you are in a mood for a good cry or a feel-good humour. They also give us hope and remind us that the world is a huge place with limitless possibilities.

Little miss sunshine

Starred by Abigail Breslin, Toni Collette, Paul Dano and Steve Carell. Following a daughter’s request to compete in a beauty pageant, the family embarks on an epic cross-country road trip to get her on stage. You can't help but smile as you see these family make great efforts to make their daughter's wishes come true.

The film's framing device is an old man reciting the story you are about to witness to his grandson to make him feel better. Fencing, torture, battling, giants, revenge, escapes, monsters, true love, chases, miracles" This is a movie that truly has it all, and even in it’s “darkest” moments, it’s still amusing, pleasant and a welcome respite from your daily problems.

Girls trip

If you are looking for some girl power and laughter, Girls Trip is the film for you. The film follows four friends who reunite in New Orleans after five years apart for a crazy and wonderful weekend. Girls Trip is the perfect movie to remind you that sometimes all you need is a wonderful group of friends to help you heal and move on, thanks to its raucous comedy and sympathetic characters.

Someone great

Jenny is a young lady who moves to San Francisco and also deals with heartbreak from her long-term love. She turns to her two best friends for a wild and chaotic last night in New York City to cope with her heartbreak. Along the way, she realises that her relationship is finished, but her life is far from done.

Silver linings playbook

A man suffering from mental illness falls in love with a woman, played by Jennifer Lawrence, who is also coping with personal issues. The two create an unexpected friendship as they support one another and negotiate life's ups and downs.

Moonstruck
