What is Y2K fashion, know all about it

With fashion, nothing is going old, just a delay, and it surfaces back up again

To begin with, Y2K is nothing more than an abbreviation for the year 2000 and the fashion trends and styles of the early 2000s. Distinctive and radiant in its colour, design, and patterns, the Y2K fashion is heavily inspired by the mid-’90s and early 2000s. All thanks to the advent of the Internet back then that this fashion trend took over pretty quickly, making it a huge fashion trend for generations to come.

Since inspired partly by the 2000s, shine and bling are exclusive to the Y2K fashion trend. What also makes for the Y2K fashion is its inclusion of the retro style with the addition of chunky sneakers, pleated skirts, and baguette bags.

The Y2K fashion trends that continue to create a sensation

While low waist, midriff-baring jeans may seem like a nightmare for some, Y2K also includes other directions.

Smaller Bags

Not the travel pouches that are seen hanging around the chest or the waist, but smaller shoulder bags. These designer stiff bags are more like the brightly coloured baguette and saddlebags that are smaller. They made a range right from the runway, celebrity wardrobes, and fashion events. Even the crochet bags lasted a good trend in the Y2K fashion trend.

Baby T-shirts

Small t-shirts that aren’t supposed to fall all over the body but just enough to cover the upper body, the trend for baby t-shirts may have never faded out. These tiny cute t-shirts came into trend in the 2000s and are a great fit mostly over any clothing. Cropped above the belly button with a fit across the chest, it can be easily styled over a pair of loose-fitting jeans or denim cut-offs.

Velour Tracksuit

This velvet monochrome tracksuit was everywhere, from parties to dinner dates to airport looks, in the 2000s. From Indian celebrities to international stars, everyone was high on the velour tracksuit trend. The styling tips can be either with crop tops, denim jackets, or shoes. But always pick bright shades and monochrome style.

Why is the Y2K fashion back?

When it comes to fashion, there is hardly anything old and never to be seen again. Though it is a reality that style comes like a wave and washes away soon enough, it always resurrects from the past to make a statement once again.
