Be it a large organization or a small group, a perfect leadership approach can immensely impact the growth. There are various leadership styles, which however depend on the characteristics of an individual. It is necessary to evaluate one's leadership in order to understand whether that style is being beneficial or it needs to be changed. Check below to identify what is your leadership style.

Autocratic leadership

An autocratic leader has the habit of taking all decisions by themselves. They tend to control their teammates, by exerting the power of the position. Such a style is important when it comes to urgent decision-making. However, people do not like their leader to be autocratic, since the teammates in such a situation do not have any scope to input their ideas and there remains no room for collaboration.

Democratic leadership

This kind of leadership is often preferred by the subordinates, since democratic leaders give the space for communication and mutual collaboration of ideas. Such style is found to be effective in maintaining a positive working environment. The members are given the power to make decisions and their opinions are valued.

Transformational leadership

Transformational leaders have a kind of energy and charismatic, inspiring personality, that is quite effective in the workplace. The team that works under a transformational leader feels motivated. Such leaders induce confidence, morale, and passion of work within their team, and work towards bringing a transformation by their way of leadership. They help their teammates to learn new skills and excel in whatever they do, to bring the best out of them, which often results in success.

Servant leadership

Power and decision-making ability is shared with the other teammates by such a leader. They tend to work along with their subordinates, without any space left for themselves to exercise their power.

Transactional leadership

A transactional leader is favoured by many individuals, since such leaders prefer to keep their employees motivated by using monetary rewards, or other kinds of reward strategies. In order to achieve success and reduce demotivation, a transactional leader manages the situation by focusing on ways to keep employees happy. And mostly does that by bringing a bonus or reward program to encourage them to work.

Laissez-faire leadership

Similar to democratic leadership, a laissez-faire leader also tends to involve its teammates in the process of decision making. However, such a leader completely keeps their hands off the decisions, and does not get involved in it. The work is watched from a distance with no role as such played by the leader within the team. Such a leadership style is most effective when the subordinates are experienced and the leader is confident about their decision-making ability.
