What things should you know before owning a bunny?

Someone told me, “If you want to experience unconditional love, get bunnies.”

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about bunnies? Cute little animals which you can cuddle all day long, right? However, this is not all! You need to consider various other factors as well. So, if you are thinking of getting a bunny, there are a few things that you should consider before getting it.

Destructive Nature

Bunnies are known for their destructive nature. If fact, it would tear your headphones, charging cords, wires, clothes or anything which could be torn. Since it is impossible to always lock all your valuables within a drawer, you should think hard before getting a bunny.

Vet Costs

The general idea regarding bunnies is that having a bunny as a pet at home is relatively inexpensive. However, this is far from the actual truth. You might be wondering that the cost of purchasing a bunny is significantly low in comparison to dogs, cats and other pets so, why this is so? This is due to the high vet costs involving vaccines, medications, grooming and specific dietary food products needed to keep a bunny in a healthy condition. Thus, you need to consider this particular aspect before getting a bunny.

Space Requirements

Despite being small, bunnies require ample space for living. This is primarily due to their agility and need to indulge in physical activities like running and hopping constantly. In fact, you might also sometimes feel physically exhausted trying to keep up with a bunny. Hence, it is advisable that you get a bunny only if you have adequate space for the bunny to roam around and play.

Get a Pair!

Human beings are the only social animals; bunnies are also social animals. So, just like humans, they also require companionship and someone to be with. You can shower all the love and care on them, but they will still feel lonely. Hence, you should consider getting a pair rather than a single bunny to avoid this issue. This will also reduce the amount of love, care and pampering you must show.

If you are still unfazed by these requirements and desire to take on the responsibility of having a bunny as a pet, then you should go for it. After all, life is always great when you have a pet ready to show unconditional love. Good luck!!
