What would it be like if introverts dominated the workplace?

There is a never-ending debate going on to compare the work efficiency between introverts and extroverts.

In general, the workspaces get dominated by people having extroverted characteristics. For example, they are most outspoken and comfortable with verbal communication. As a result, extroverts are often dominating a conversation or engage in a debate or discussion. In all, extroverted nature usually gets accepted as the quality of a successful leader.

However, today we often read about how introverts brought a change to the business world. Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and Bill Gates are few famous personalities who didn’t hide behind the drape of their introversions but inspired people to think differently. Firstly, they can stay focused for a long time; secondly, they maintain the balance between life and work; and lastly, innovative ideas lead them towards success.

Here are some changes that might occur if introverts dominated the workplace.

Introverts are known for their calculated decision-making abilities. In many cases, introverts get appreciated for their conservative nature, which prevents them from taking risks in business or life. However, there might be a situation where risk-taking is the right passage, especially for the founders of small businesses and start-up companies. Introverts usually vacillate between their decisions in such cases, but they end up with a third way to deal with such situations. As a result, they can make impactful decisions that make them a good leader.

One can experience an introverted environment in such a workplace. In most companies, they ask an introverted employee to act more extroverted. However, the situation will get reversed in any introvert-dominated workplace. Instead of encouraging debate in the workplace, an introvert ideal appreciates a reasonable discussion. Introverts have the quality to listen and analyse before commenting. They are known for their perceptions that are delivered positively, without making a rage.

People appreciate solitude in an introverted workspace. As per study reports, a person working in isolation has greater chances to stay focused and work efficiently. Introverts can think creatively as their mind is free from social chit-chats and other affairs. Everyone sees extroverts as great leaders compared to significant others. However, there are certain essential leadership qualities in an introverted person. Such as they can make precise decisions, observe and stay focused.

A workplace dominated by introverts lacks internal competition. One of the essential traits of extroverted people is to compete for external rewards. Introverts have no such expectations towards rewards; therefore, they often find themselves resisting competitive impulses. An introverted ideal workplace appreciates self-development.

Therefore, these are some of the situations that might take place in an introvert dominated workplace.
