Why should one consider MTech as a career option?

Career refers to the race where education is the only key to success. 

Today, most students take up BTech as a job-oriented career option and try to get placed before their degree completes. Only a few prepare seriously for MTech entrance examinations because they lack awareness about the career options associated with MTech. So, first, we need to understand the need for it and then look for the available career options.

With the continuous need for technology upgrades and innovations, the system needs professionals who can bring that change or work towards it simultaneously. MTech is one such degree that gives you that platform to do so.

Now let’s talk about the career options:

  • R & D job opportunities: Companies need MTech degree holders for specific job roles and want to onboard them in a particular team in the organization called Research & Development in short R&D. If you are passionate enough about the subject of your studies, then you will enjoy your job in the R&D team.
  • Research opportunities: Once you complete your M-tech degree, you can apply for PhD in a specific field of interest. As you already have a deep knowledge of that technology, you can continue to dig on and develop a new or modify the existing something associated with that technology or add some further research information on that field. That will be your contribution towards society, and you will be get paid monthly during your PhD in most cases. Also, it will earn you the “Dr” prefix to your name once completed.
  • Teaching Profession: Engineering has always been a favourite career option in India. Hence, there are several engineering colleges in India. So, teaching in the engineering field is also a stable career option after MTech.
  • Specialization Benefits: Some jobs require expert professionals in a particular technology. Although BTech gives you an overall idea of the subject, MTech can give you the depth knowledge of a specific technology.
  • Start your own business: If you have gathered a good amount of knowledge in a specific technology in MTech and you can solve a real-life problem using that, or you can capture a market based on that technology also you have cracked that technology from business perspectives, then you can be an entrepreneur. You will get a lot of government and non-government organizational support.
In conclusion, before considering MTech as a career option, you must identify your passion or interest in a specific subject or technology. Also, go through all the available options after MTech mentioned above, and if any of these meet your career goals, then definitely pursue MTech.
